Cornell College invites applications for a Musical Theatre Dance Artist in Residence within the Department of Theatre and Dance beginning in August of 2020. The initial appointment for this position will be a term of four years with an opportunity to renew. Candidates must demonstrate a clear enthusiasm and potential excellence in teaching and choreographing various proficiency levels, in a liberal arts setting.  With an emphasis in Musical Theatre Dance and choreography, the successful candidate will provide leadership in designing and delivering curricula within the context of a growing Theatre and Dance Department; supporting a growing BA, BFA in Musical Theatre and Dance minor.



The candidate will have the ability to combine excellence in classroom teaching with scholarly or other appropriate professional activity, support ongoing student recruitment to the Department, choreography of departmental productions, mentorship of students and production of dance concerts. The successful candidate will teach courses in Musical Theatre and Jazz as well as one or more of the following areas: Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, African, dance composition, improvisation or other areas of expertise. Opportunities for summer teaching dependent upon the candidate's interest.



MFA or PH.D in Dance or other related field. Desirable qualifications include: a minimum of three years of collegiate teaching and choreography experience, and demonstrated capacity for course development and design within a liberal arts setting.
